PROJECTS IN DEVELOPMENT:

7.2011:
seventy2architects entered into contract with Town of Warren to design the Town Community/Senior Center. Plans for renovations and additions to the Town of Warren’s former Town Hall building are out to bid. Improvements include modifications to meet current codes: handicapped accessibility, fire/life-safety and commercial building codes. New finishes and a kitchen addition will upgrade the facility for community use for a new generation.
Bid Documents are complete, and construction will begin in Fall 2011.

8.2011:
Plans for interior and exterior renovations to Plumtrees Plaza in Danbury have been finalized, and construction will begin in September.

9.2011:
-Plans created and developed for a new Doctors’ Office in New Milford. Two empty tenant spaces will be combined to create the new home of an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist in New Milford, Connecticut. An efficient plan with clear patient and staff “flow” maximizes treatment space and minimizes construction costs.
Construction is expected to begin late 2011.

- Hired by a Country Club in Danbury to design a shelter for the Driving Range.

-Construction at St. Catherine of Sienna Church slate roof is nearly complete.

10.2011:
-Designs for work at the Tudor-style commercial building in Scarsdale are in the final stages of development.

-Designs for expansions to Augie’s Numero Uno restaurant in Danbury are underway.

-Schematic Design work has begun for renovations to a private residence on Candlewood Lake, Connecticut.

St. Catherine of Sienna Church
Exterior Renovations and
New Slate Roof

The façade of this white/pink brick building was deteriorating rapidly and was terribly stained. The original construction featured reversed corbel details that were not protected by flashings. Water, snow and ice sat on the bricks, then soaked the walls, leading to mold and mildew growth on the building's skin. New tin-zinc coated copper flashings will be installed at the existing reverse corbel bands that wrap the building at several levels. A mild 'green' wash will be applied with a low- pressure wash to remove mold and mildew at the bricks' face.

The slate roof at this Greek-Revival church had a failing slate roof. Details and specifications were created to bid the roof replacement work to pre-qualified roofing contractors.

Church Social Hall Renovations

This site-cast concrete 1950’s church has unusually high ceiling height at the lower level, and seventy2architects was hired to convert this basement-theater space into a multi-purpose Social Hall. New energy-efficient heating and air-conditioning systems are being installed, and will be concealed in soffits. New arch-topped windows, bright suspended ceilings and contemporary light fixtures will be added. Insulation has been added to exterior walls to increase comfort and decrease energy costs. A seven-foot tall painted poplar wainscoting will be added to perimeter walls and columns, and the original terrazzo floors will be restored to their original luster.

Construction is underway and will be completed for Christmas 2011.

Housatonic Valley Waldorf School, Newtown CT
Project Size: 1,200 SF. 1 classroom, kitchen prep area and support spaces.

Nestled in the woods along Dodgingtown Road, a new kindergarten building was designed and constructed for this Newtown arts-based-learning school. The building’s form follows the Waldorf School’s architectural rules (based on Rudolph Steiner's architecture and his spiritual philosophy entitled Anthroposophy): ‘organic’ non-rectilinear forms, with few (if any) sharp corners or edges. The roof peaks have been clipped, and the interior features a low trey ceiling to relate to a child’s body proportion.
Status: Construction complete.
